Colorectal cancer represents one of the most significant and preventable causes of death in the UK today. It is the second most common cause of death from cancer in the UK. More than 30,000 new cases of colorectal cancer occur each year in the UK, and 16,000 people die from it. The five-year survival rate in the UK is only around 50%, which is poor in comparison to other western countries; this discrepancy is mainly attributed to people in the UK being diagnosed in later stages of the disease.
The Cancer and Chronic Disease Team is engaged in various works around early detection / diagnosis of colorectal cancer. Please use the links on the left hand menu for details of current studies.
